Perfection in pastel by Sandra Bartels
Sandra Bartels (1972) has worked for many years in advertising as a designer/desktop publisher after completing her design studies at the Graphic Lyceum in Utrecht. Capturing an animal’s personality and expression is important to her. Bartels mainly works with soft pastel & pastel pencils and pan pastel, she has further developed this technique over the years. This allows you to perfectly display fur structures and nature by building it up in different layers into a realistically detailed image. Bartels’ works are also highly regarded internationally. In 2019 she submitted her drawings for the ‘Wildlife Artist of the Year’ competition organized by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation in England. These pastel works were selected to be part of the exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. In 2020 and 2021 she again became a finalist. Her work has been published in ‘International Artist Magazine’ edition April ’22. And since she became a finalist at Stroke of a Genius 14, her work will be published in magazine ‘The Best of Drawing’ (November 22). At the end of 2022 she became a finalist at 16th Arc Salon, Animals category of the Art Renewal Center.
