The serie Chef’s Special by Nadja Willems originated from her amazement about posting food on social media. Nowadays, a photo is taken first, then posted on social media and only then is the dish eaten. It is no longer just about the food. The food suddenly seems to become/be subordinate to the photo and the likes or the reactions the photo gets. Has praying before eating been replaced by a Social Media Experience? Is social media our new belief? A special development! Chef’s Special plates are wall objects consisting of real plates and cutlery and with photographed food in them with a unique sense of depth through a layer of epoxy.
